Quiet, non-rgb workstation - looking for motherboard + ram recommendations

Budget (including currency): $2500

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly workstation, some games see below

Other details: Not using any existing parts for this.  The existing system is a i7-9700k with a 2080. The system was a pre-build POS from iBuyPower that has been cr@p since I got it and it's underpowered and if I push it too hard it does a hard power reset.  I think the PS is undersized - so plan is to get the new system move everything over and then rip this down and either rebuild it fresh and clean and maybe use it as a high powered Plex Server.

I'm looking for recommendations for a Motherboard RAM Combo. Will be buying a 5900X. This isn't a gaming machine but will game on it ... non-fps games. (Ex: Diablo, Cities Skylines, Astroneer, Battletech, etc).

Like to haves:

  • No RGB [ or very low amount of lights or lights that I can turn off]

  • USB-C [ almost a must ]

  • At least two M.2 for storage

  • Backup BIOS/UEFI

  • Bluetooth (at least 4, 5 would be a plus)

  • 3-4 SATA connectors

  • Could handle a 3080 (or a 3080 Ti)

Wifi is not needed, it'll be wired. The case is also big enough for a full ATX, so size is not important. Even with a glass door it won't be anywhere to be seen so esthetics are not important.

The current spec -- not sold on anything here just picked whatever was available: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vYgJpH

Thank you very much.

Thank you for the list -- I appreciate the feedback.

The reason I had gone with AMD is the heat generated by the 12th gen Intel requires a much higher CFM cooler which in turn makes a lot more noise.  From a quick google search looks like the AK620 is around ~30dbm(@ 100%?) and the be quiet is at 23dbm@100%. Add a couple of more fans and it adds up.

I did take a bunch of your suggestions and updated my list.

If you stick with the 5900X I'd suggest a higher performance cooler. The Dark Rock Slim is rated up to 180W TDP, the 5900X can output more than 180W.

Not sure about all them motherboard BIOS resets and update ports. This one seems to have it all.

Cooler to keep the 125W CPU under control.

Should be enough RAM for Cities Skylines even if you mod it.

GPU plenty powerful to run latest AAA, let alone your games.

Buy OS from reseller, don't pay full price.
