I have an MSI B550-A Pro and Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi, A GTX 960 and RTX 3060, and a Ryzen 5 2400g and Ryzen 9 3900X. I'm also using 3 G.Skill Aegis 8GB sticks that I've been cycling and a Roswill HIVE 650S. Attempting to boot off of a Samsung something 800? EVO that I've been using for about two years.

I have swapped all of these in the past two weeks because, after upping my CPU OC on the Gigabyte board, my pc froze and I hard rebooted to no post with a DRAM Gigabyte mobo LED that would quickly flash to the CPU LED. I thought it was the CPU and I needed an upgrade so I got the R9, to get the same issue again.

Now I figured it was the mobo that gave out bc of my OC settings but the "new" used MSI board is only giving me a CPU LED when i turn the system on, along with fans and RGB working fine, after actually posting on the first two attempts. Once, I got into windows recovery mode, then I restarted to go to the BIOS and change the boot mode. After that, I have not been able to post with any configuration of CPU/GPU/RAM.

What kind of problem is this? Is it bad power to the CPU from my PSU? Or could it actually be 3 dead sticks of RAM? My CPU cooler is mounted kind of tight, but it was running for years with this config. I really hope it's not two dead CPUs...

I really need help, not sure what to do now

I'm RMA'ing a board right now that randomly failed to POST, the debug lights acting like a traffic signal gone haywire. Orange DRAM, red CPU, white VGA, green BOOT, no video. Hard reset, reseat RAM / GPU and it's fine for about ten more cycles or so. Generally, if the same CPU acts the same way with different boards and RAM, CPU is likely. If a board acts the same with different CPUs and RAM, then board is likely. Fail to POST sounds like board to me, but could still be CPU. My guess is the OC may have done something to the IMC.

ADDED: If this is all with the same boot drive, however, that may be your common denominator. Have you verified that it is good?

This is with the same boot drive, PSU, and RAM (of which I have three modules I've been swapping).

That said, I doubt my MOBO would be unable to post bc of the boot drive. And, as I said above, my pc did actually post twice but hasn't since. It posted with the 3060 and R9 but after saving the BIOS with a change from UEFI to CSM, it won't post now. I suppose I'll try updating the BIOS with a USB...

A boot drive bad enough to confuse the motherboard could cause a POST failure. It's rare, but it happens. Another possibility is that you have PCIe devices conflicting over PCIe lanes and hanging the motherboard. Also, BIOS support for some less popular devices is removed to enable support for other devices. Usually happens with older boards, but it's not uncommon.
