Budget (including currency): ~$500-600 usd

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: School / server

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I want to use the pc as a school remote access pc but also as a server for minecraft with friends / storing data. I'll probably end up upgrading cooling in a few months, but if it becomes a problem / thermal throttles (I doubt it will) then I'll upgrade it. I'm about to buy the parts so I decided to ask a few forums for upgrades before doing so. Heres the link:

If the system is going to stay on most of the time, I'd do away with a SSD since you wont be loading into windows all the time (assuming it's only purpose is to be a boot drive).

I'd suggest a new cooling solution since Intel's box coolers are not that good for long term or heavy use.

I partly agree. I need a m.2 ssd because I've personally used that hard drive as a windows boot drive and, oh man it was terrible. Apart from sometimes using it as a server I need to daily use the pc for school so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'm going to shell out another $100 on a noctua NH-D15 because I enjoy leaving my PC's on for extreme amounts of time (1-2 months haha) and dont want to worry about it thermal throttling lol

Just buy a damn 4th gen prebuilt like an optiplex or something, will get you wayyy underbudget but still have pretty good performance

I mean I could. My dad said the same thing, but I already have some of the parts on hand, and I really dont want to open the back panel and find the pc engineer made pasta in the back of my pc. Also, your case is your motherboard box??? Bro r u ok

$140 is extremely expensive, especially at this budget. Get some $40 case instead.
