Would it work if I used 2 DIMMs of 8GB of Corsair Vengeance LP + 2 DIMMs of 4GB *both 1866MHz* on the same mobo. I have only resorted to this option as i have am having trouble finding 2 DIMMs of 4GB in black, near to me, to go with my current 2 red especially at 1866MHz

It should work. Do they have the same latencies? If they don't I would recommend you to set the latency manually corresponding to the ram that has the highest latency.

You don't have to buy 1866Mhz memory. If you purchase 1600Mhz RAM then all of the RAM will downclock to 1600Mhz. This may make it easier for you to find RAM that meets the size and color requirements. :)

^^ This or it just may not boot or be stable. Don't do it. Always use the same RAM in all slots.

Set them at the lowest latencies that both support and it should work

CL10 would be the lowest with the 16GB set running that

The 16GB set is CL10 and the 8GB set is CL9
