Hello everyone,

back like 2 months ago i had to update my mobo bios due to the old one not supporting ryzen 3000 and radeon 6000 rebar.

After a few times of getting "saved" by Asus's crashfreebios i landed on a version that worked and still works fine to this day.

But 2 months later i am still left wondering, what could've caused these problems, and if i ever need to update the bios again how can i avoid these problems.

What motherboard (model) are you using?

Which BIOS version did you download / try to flash?

For the most part, updating the BIOS should be relatively smooth....

Format the USB stick to FAT32.

Unzip the BIOS file, and put ONLY the BIOS flash file into the USB stick -- no folders, other files, etc.

Update it directly through the BIOS too.

Updating it through Windows / OS has its problems.

I am using the Asus TUF B550m-PLUS and i was trying to flash the version 2803 and 2403 with the result of receiving that crashfree screen after the pc being turned off.

Now don't get me wrong i by no means need to have the latest bios versions since the i have now works well and i don't experience the reported stuttering very often (like i had it only once or twice in the span of these 2 months since the update)

Anyway next time i'll be doing a bios update i'll keep your advice in mind.

That ASUS motherboard has USB BIOS Flashback feature.

So if you DO corrupt the BIOS, you can recover it.

Basically, you can flash / recover the BIOS, even without a CPU, RAM, or GPU plugged in.

You just need power.

Yeah i know about that useful feature (one of the reasons i picked this board in particular) and that's why i am not that scared when updating the bios but still my question remains: what didn't the first 2 versions like but the 3rd one did.

huh, I'm not sure about why that happened.

Which version do you have successfully flashed right now?
