How do I change display brightness?

As far as I know, you can change the brightness of every labtop's display. But I never had a PC that can do that, I was wondering if it's a driver thing, or if it's a feature reserved for labtops only since they have special connectors or something.

I tried googling this but all the questions I google just come up as troubleshooting videos and websites, I can't seem to find a clear answer.

Incase it matters my monitor is HP V242h

You would need to do it through the monitors HUD. Should be a menu button somewhere on it where you can change the monitors settings.

Ah, so it's not possible to change monitor's brightness via window's brightness slider. That sucks, well thanks for the answer!
