Another generic soundcard question

Go to solution Solved by Coconut Money Affiliates,

As for the motherboad i have a: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+.

Also, what is the main difference between a soundcard and the Fiio E10?

As a note, i'm noticing some weird and downright shit audio with my onboard and i really can't seem to pinpoint the issue.

Thanks for all the help i can get :)

Your onboard should be fine, as that is a decent motherboard.... Do you have the lastest Audio drivers? They can be found on the motherboards webpage

As for soundcard vs DAC (Digital to Analog Converter (i.e. the FiiO E10))..... The only main difference is that with DAC's you have much less connectivity (so forget the 5.1) and that audio processing for higher end headphones is better. You also receive less electrical noise. Besides that, there isnt anything else really important that you will notice in music (aside for varying sound signiagtures, but that is with ALL audio products).

Hail fellow tech enthusiasts.

So i've been looking at soundcards ever since my old creative sound blaster died.

I'm a student and on somewhat of a tight budget 1~70$.

I've been checking out the Asus Xonar series, and currently wondering what the difference between the Xonar DG and the Xonar DX would be.

This is from the standpoint of someone who enjoys good sound but wouldn't consider themselves an audiophile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated regarding recommendations.

Ps. i mainly use my Sennheiser pc360's and logitech 5.1 speakers when working out or cleaning.

For that price point, the Xonar DX would be better. It has an Audio processor and Dolby technology. As for all the idiots that are about to hate on me because soundcards are "superior" (Im looking at you MayflowerElectronics), the only one in his price range is the E10, which is discontinued. Plus, the Xonar will be just fine, as he doesnt have $500 headphones.

As for the differences in the two, the DX has a different processor, whereas the DG has a more different processor and an AMP.

Also, what motherboard do you have?

I budget build well. Want to learn? PM me if you want advice.

You can't get the E10 anymore because it was discontinued but you can get this $40 syba dac and amp on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Stereo-Headphone-Amplifier-SD-DAC63057/dp/B009WN7QT4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398440987&sr=8-1&keywords=syba+dac

Sound cards just cause headaches with driver problems and they're not even good.

I honestly think that downloading the drivers for the built-in soundcard fixed my issue, i can't thank you enough.

And thanks for all the good advice and recommendations guys. Have a nice day all of you!
