So I recently built a new PC out of mostly new Part and some older parts from my former rig and it's been great so far the last 2 months

The last few days, however, every time I hit the power switch when my PC is turned of its been taking about 5-10 seconds to turn on and It feels like its getting longer

I live in South Africa and we have loadhsedding atm ,( Scheduled power outages for up to 2 hours per day due to power shortages).

I regularly have to turn of my PC and I tend to flip the PSU of to prevent surges when power comes back on after the outages.

I have forgotten to flip the PSU switch at night when the PC is turned off but the PSU is still on but then loadshedding cut the power during the night.

Is the delayed startup a PSU issue? Can I fix it or will it get worse if I leave it be? Also should I unplug My pc altogether when power is about to go out?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

I don't know if it's the PSU.

It might just be an old computer.

I'd say just leave it or try to free up some space.

I built this PC less than 2 months ago, Only things that are older Components are the RAM and HDD, the HDD is the boot drive but it hasn't given me this Issue up until 3 days ago. But thx for the reply

If this is the case, then it's probably the PSU

5-10 seconds from pressing the start button

So when you press the button, it's like you press it 5-10 seconds later right? In that case the issue is probably the PSU or motherboard, from what you say it sounds like the PSU. Try completely unplugging it, instead of flipping the switch.

Okay Thx ill try that. You think the PSU willstill be able to function properly only now with a bit of delayed startup? or will it keep getting worse over time?

By HDD I hope you mean SSD, not a spinning harddrive...

Booting from a harddrive in 5 to 10 seconds should have you feeling over the moon. That's FAST.

It's not booting 5-10 its taking that long to physically turn on. As in there is no power or any form of life in the PC after pressing the power button
