My PC was built back in 2020 and was running with no issues. Until this month did I run into the issue of my PC will only post with one RAM stick.

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WIFI mini-itx (refurbished, slight bent shielding around PCIE slot)
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600MHz 2x8GB
  • 2 1TB NVME SSDs
  • RTX 2060 SUPER FE
  • NZXT H1 case
  • 750W PSU

Troubleshooting done:

  • Turned the PC on and off again
  • Turned off XMP but didn't change anything
  • Reset CMOS, PC posted but wouldn't post after being turned off again
  • Reset the RAM
  • Removed second RAM stick and PC posted with one stick. Removed the first stick and in it's place the second stick, the PC posted.
  • Tested RAM sticks in second DIMM slot and the PC would not post with either RAM stick inserted
  • Updated BIOS to current and still will only post with one stick of RAM
  • Put RAM into spare PC and that PC will post
  • Swapped my RTX card for my GTX 1060 and the PC would still only post with 1 RAM stick
  • Put my RTX card in my spare PC and the PC boots
  • Removed the CPU to check the pins, the pins are fine

Unfortunately I'm unable to take the CPU and test it in another board. I really don't know what to think other than it's the second DIMM slot.
