140 or 120

Go to solution Solved by TheDigitalRealm,

My PC was looking a little empty and I got some money for the month (yay) so I think I might want to put in a 140 or 120mm rad in the back of my R4. I only have the stock R4 fan if I go 140, but I feel like that would be more worth my effort. I have a GT with a stripped screw on my rad from another build, so I can try and rip that off if I do 120. Also, what thickness could I fit if I have a 240 in the top? I was thinking only 30 or maybe 45 with the 120mm fan.

Thanks.

If you feel you must, go for it but it won't make any difference to temperatures, especially since you'll be going with a 30mm thick radiator. If it looks better though, go for it! I'd definitely go for a 120mm radiator as the selection of fans is much broader.

well you can just do what i did with my R4 , and put the fans on the outside for the top meaning you can have a thicker rad

It would look better, but not even a little difference?

Maybe 1 or 2 degrees. What sized radiators do you already have? It will make a larger difference if you don't have very much radiator surface area to begin with, but if you already have 4x120mm or more of radiator space, I don't think you'll see any noticeable difference in temperature.

I have a 360 that is 60mm thick and a 240 that is 30mm thick.

Yeah...you definitely wont see any difference with those sized radiators, that's a really nice set up, and unless you feel you have to for aesthetics, there wouldn't be much point in it.

Thanks! I'll think about it, but probably not do it :/
