My first build - is this good already?

I am aiming to play 1440p @ high fps with this build and hope it will lasts for 5 years or so (wishful thinking) before I upgrade the GPU. Could you please check my build if you have any suggestions on what part/s to improve.

Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jkCfhk

I am not yet going to buy the RTX 3080 as it is currently priced at 1000 USD in my country (Philippines). I have a GTX 1070 on hand while waiting for the price to go down.

Thank you very much.

Have a look at the 6800XT. They should cost less than a 3080 and perform better. You'd get far more smiles per frames while saving a bit.

Also have a look at swapping those 3 120mm for 2 140mm. Difference is probably marginal but I've heard that 2 140mm get more airflow than 3 120mm.

I would get something like this. It doesn't include any fans since the decent ones cost about $40 from what I've seen, which is crazy for 1 fan. If the fans are actually as expensive as PCPP says, just get a case that comes with more. I assume you can get that PSU for a decent price since you chose it, but I don't see a price on PCPP.

₱21728.95 in shipping wtf. Google says that's equal to $400~. Not worth it or PCPartPicker got the shipping prices completely wrong.

Its a solid build just I wont pay more for psu unless that's what available in your country, like I will take the EVGA its cheaper but same performance or get a 850w like Thermaltake  or EVGA for less than the price.

If I click some of the links the Newegg page actually says those prices... would be better if OP could find something with cheaper shipping or go to a store

Weirdly, NVIDIA video cards in my country costs less and has more supply than AMD video cards.

Will look to that combination of airflow fans. I am currently looking on how to set up the case fans in the case.

Your CPU and Motherboard combo costs like 20-30 USD more in my country than i5 12400f and B660. Moreover based on my research, there is a minimal difference between 5600x and i5 12400f. Am I right?

Is 6900XT better than 3080 10gb? In the current market in my country (Philippines), AMD GPUs are rare and expensive. However, I can buy in NewEgg for a much lower price.

Yeah go Intel in that case. It's cheaper and has a better upgrade path (LGA 1700 will also support 13th gen).

At 1080p (not recommended with such a high end card) and 1440p it should perform similar to a 3090, at 4k more like a 3080 Ti. This was before AMD gave some minor performance improvements with drivers so it might be slightly faster now. One exception is ray tracing, which Nvidia is much better at, so if that's important to you consider the 3080. Nvidia is also better for rendering.

Those brands are hard to find in my country. Some dude from reddit recommended the MSI PSU to me (he searched the PH stores site I have given him) and it is in tier A in the PSU cult site. That's why I opted to this PSU lol

Its a good one and as I said if you can find another psu like the ones I recommended in your country to see if any is available just to save some money, the MSI PSU is good its a solid build .

Oh, I learned something new that LGA 1700 supports 13th gen 🙂 I am waiting for the GPU prices to drop, maybe, until 2-3 weeks before the next gen video cards.

I will prolly use my pc mostly for gaming and programming/coding (will be studying it in the future hehe). What GPU will you recommend - 6900xt? I heard DLSS of RTX 3080 is a great deal.

Thanks so much for your input. I learned a lot. Will continue to research on prices and differences between GPUs.

I'd go for the 6900 XT. DLSS isn't really needed with these cards as they already perform great at native resolution, and the 6900 XT support FSR 2.0 which is great too.

Actually for that use I would recommend downgrading the GPU to something like a 3070 Ti or 6800 and upgrading the CPU to a 12700F (unless 5900X is cheaper which it usually isn't)

Dude what?  Good fans do not coat $40.  Where on earth made you come to believe that?  Arctic p series are usually under $10 a piece and are great.

Why downgrade a GPU to upgrade a CPU?  The original 12400 and 3080 pairing is great, but a 12400 and 6700xt would be fine too.  Why double the CPU cost just for the hell of it?

That's what the Philippines PCPP shows when I sort by cheapest. Honestly I don't even think these are great, the cheapest one that seems good is a Phanteks for 2429.91. I assume PCPP lists wrong prices though, or the market in Philippines must be really bad.

OP also said they also plan on programming/coding. While it may not be a big advantage, I think having extra cores could definitely help.

At a student level, no.  And that’s where people usually are for quite a while.  And with the fans yeah that is wierd.  Must be wrong.  But there’s no way fans cost that much when cpus and gpus are relatively close to usa prices.

It is because it is being sold from the USA (Newegg). The high price is due to the shipping.
