Computer reboot on various games/programs

polo123qwe

Hello,

Whenever I'm running certain games and programs my computer randomly reboots. It is usually during the loading screens or when there is some processing going on. This happens when the programs are both in my M2 SSD or in the HDD. Games where I've observed this behaviour happening are Escape From Tarkov, Deep Rock Galactic, Apex Legends, and most recently modded SkyrimVR crashes after a few minutes of playing. I cannot find the dump file generated on reboot.

Things I've tried:

  • Temperatures are reported fine, around 85 degrees max
  • Running Memtest86 did not detect any problem with the RAM
  • Running a GPU and/or CPU stress test does not lead to this crash happening
  • Changing the Virtual Memory paging file seems to change how frequent these crashes are for some games
  • Uninstalling the Oculus software for my headset did seem to fix the crashes in Escape From Trakov, but those happened every time I was loading into a game
  • There was no error when checking the disks
  • Updating GPU drivers
  • Reformatting windows

My specs are:

  • Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
  • Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H with F9 update
  • Intel i7 4770k
  • G.Skill Trident X 16 GB 2x8 DDR3 @ 2400Mhz
  • AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
  • PSU URANO VX 750W
  • Windows installed in SATA Kingston SSD 120gb
  • Programs/Games in M2 SSD Samsung 970 1TB
  • Programs/Games in SATA Seagate 3TB

As a side note, I have another SATA SSD with a Linux partition, I've experienced crashes there but they are not that common

NOX PSU, aka crap they sell down Latin American countries... I'd suspect that to be the issue. Even if it isn't, I wouldn't rely on that thing.

I ordered a new PSU yesterday, hopefully that will fix the problem, but I do not understand why the restart does not get triggered when running the stresstests for gpu and cpu if its a PSU issue
