Plug the HDMI cable into the motherboard, not the GPU. Remove the GPU and try it. There appear to be HDMI and Display port sockets available.

What county are you in as English doesn't appear to be your native language?

5600x doesn’t have integrated graphics. No video out without a GPU.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Why is the 5800x so hot?

The OP states, first message - Motherboard: msi b550 a pro

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550-A-PRO

Scroll right down and there is the back of the board with video output sockets.

From that I presume a GPU isn't necessary to get some video out.

There’s no built in IPMI on that board so the GPU or the CPU will need to be able to output graphics.
OP can try it anyways but don’t be surprised when there’s no video. Those video out slots are there because that motherboard is compatible with Ryzen APUs that DO have integrated graphics.
It’s no different than using a “F” model Intel CPU in a motherboard with video out. Yes you can plug in, but nothing is being told to go out.

One website states -
DisplayPort: 1(Gen 1, Type C), 2(Gen 1, Type A)
HDMI: 1(Gen 1, Type C), 2(Gen 1, Type A)

Another website  -
DISPLAYPORT: 1
HDMI: 1

Then there is the manual -
https://www.manuals.ca/msi/b550-a-pro/manual?p=22

Onboard Graphics (page 15)
1 x HDMI port supports a maximum resolution 4096x2160 24Hz
1 x DisplayPort supports a maximum resolution of 4096x2160 60Hz

So I tend to presume there is on board graphics otherwise why bother putting sockets on the back. That would be deception and totally misleading.

Graphics processing units being built into the motherboard are a thing of the past except with IPMI.
Good luck getting video out.

You presume wrong.

To provide display out for CPU's that have onboard graphics capability.

Graphics processing integrated into the motherboard itself hasn't been a thing for consumer mothrboards in more than a decade.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I've just booted a computer and it can not be older than 5 years due to the CPU i5-8400 which was released in September 2017.

The board has HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs. I'm running the TV off the HDMI from the computer.

By my calculations, 2017 is only 5 years ago.

I think 5 years is way, way, less than "more than a decade".

As for Googoo, Cs for English possibly explains things.... sorry.

Sometimes, describing a fault and what happened, listing the things can make it clearer.

Example -

1.) I switched it and it booted then shut down.

2.) I hit it with a hammer and switched it on and it behaved

3.) Next day.....

The 8400 has the integrated graphics, not the board. Put an 8400F (which lacks the onboard graphics) in that board and the HDMI and DP will be useless.

And it does not have integrated graphics on the board.

The graphics output ports on the motherboard are for if you are using a CPU with integrated graphics. A port is just that, a port. The motherboard does not have any capability to process graphics in and of itself.  If you use a CPU that lacks integrated graphics capability (most Ryzen CPU's, or Intel CPU's with F's on the end of their model names), the ports on the board will do nothing. Consumer motherboards do not have integrated graphics processing and have not now for many generations of hardware. (No, specially-made boards for integrated systems and AliExpress scrapyard specials like the thing with a built-in 1050 ti LTT did a video on a while ago do not count.)

This concept is well understood and information on it is readily available. I am not going to bother explaining it to you again. And no, I don't care if you've been servicing integrated graphics for NASA since before I was born or whatever.
