Upgrading my GPU

I was gonna buy a new monitor and the best thing to do would be get a 27inch 1440p monitor but to drive soemthing like

that I need a new GPU right now I'm running a GTX 480 @900d/2200 and I don't think it would cut it at 1440p and getting new

GPU would be best bet right now.. Then moving to a new monitor

 

I'm looking at XFX 290 on NCIX for $399 seems like the best deal around, was gonna go 280x or 770 but for only

60 bucks more I can get a 290.

Save up and get atleast a GTX 780 ( or 290 ) for 1440p, and a second one later.

That 290 will be fine for 1440

I suggest you look for a better 290, the XFX one is still alright but does have some problems I believe and isn't as good as the others such the ones from MSI, Gigabyte, Sapphire and Asus.

Save Up and get a 290non Reference Sapphire Tri-X Maybe  ,or EVGA 780 ACX

290 for 1440p, but definitely get a non reference, or otherwise you card will be hot and loud.

The 290 would be great for 1440p. I would go with that.

I don't know about the PCB but the card is not using the stock type cooler the DD or Double Dissipation, another

290 would be prolly $60 or $70 more..

If you're getting your own monitor a 290 has more memory, so it'll perform better at higher than 1080 resolutions. Personally I have a 780 and I'm waiting for G-Sync monitors.
