[SOLVED] Issue with AMD display drivers (update loop)

Hi 🙂

I'm using an R5 5600G (iGPU enabled in BIOS) and a GTX1060 (6GB) as the primary dGPU.

AMD iGPU drivers are Adrenalin 22.5.1.

However, Windows update pushes the following update:

AMD Display driver v.30.0.13014.8

After this update Adrenalin no longer loads (error message below) and other programs also randomly crash.

I can reinstall Adrenalin to solve the problem but then Windows update pushes the update v.30.0.13014.8 again...

How should I go about dealing with that?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best,

-a-

I had the same problem on a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 3 3200U CPU, which has an integrated gpu in it, I couldn't find an actual solution to this but to install the driver from AMD website and forcing windows to stop that update

Try this, search "Device Installation Settings" in Start Menu and select No

How do you prevent the installation of a specific update?

AFAIU this will prevent driver updates for EVERY devices, right?

Yes. Just disable it until they fix the problem. 🤔

How can I find out when the problem is fixed?

Go to this website https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx and paste your iGPU HardwareID into the Search box.
If the latest result is not v.30.0.13014.8 that mean they update with newer driver already.
