Hey there!

As you can see my 5900X loses around 20% FPS with ReLive enabled, I can recreate this in every game and a benchmark like CPU Profile backs this up (almost similar score as a 3900X when ReLive enabled).

Everywhere I search for this topic people seem to agree that the performance impact is negligible with ReLive enabled, and even though I vaguely agree with this (most of the games run into a GPU bottleneck), I still think that a generational decrease in CPU bound scenarios for a hardware encoder is heavy.

I wonder if there's something on my side as I mainly play competitive games like CS:GO and Valorant where I want to squeeze as much out of my frames as I can while still recording.

Changing the settings in ReLive (like bitrate, resolution or encoding type) does not affect performance and I use my system memory as the buffer.

System:

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X

  • GPU: SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Vega 64

  • Memory: 16GB Corsair Vegeance LPX 3600MHz CL16 (2x8GB)

  • AIO: Arctic Liquid Cooler II 240mm

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-E

Just registered; sweet to see this!

My 5800X is being "downgraded" to a 3800X/3900X (roughly) if i enable ReLIVE - judging by my CPU-Profile Score.

I've got a Vega64 as well - Changing the Decoder to (for example) HEVC does not change anything.

Which Buffer you choose does not matter either, albeit you wrote that already.

I lose about 200-300 Frames per second with ReLive enabled in Valorant.

Maybe the VEGA64 doesn't do Hardware Encoding, despite being advertised as that?

It is interesting since AMD itself and many more sources say that Relive "Has no performance impact whatsoever" - Which simply isn't true!
