Sorry if this is in the wrong area. This is my first time posting here.

See I work for a plumbing company and we're having trouble finding what I would call a dumb inventory system.

Where it's not really connected to a POS system and only tracks internal inventory and would be nice if it could do barcode scanning from the phone as well.

And you could register a scanned object on a "per user" basis so you know who took what and where it's going. If anyone knows a system that does that please let me know.

there's nothing dumb about what you're describing.

Not being connected to the POS is minor.  You can use any solution and just not connect it to the PoS.  (Why you wouldn't, IDK, but beside the point.)

Everything else your'e describing is a smart system, with phone apps, etc.

Oh I see. But the reason we don't need the POS part is because we're just trying to track inventory so we know what we use more often then not on jobs and can come up with better and more accurate numbers then pen and paper inventory can and make it easier on the office ladies during tax time.

I googled free inventory control systems. honestly, you may want to look into hiring a person that knows inventory control systems, or consulting with another business that would be willing to help get you going in the right direction.

Appreciate it I'll definitely look into these and I was thinking the same thing to be honest
