Two Lists, One Winner

Budget (including currency): $1800USD before taxes.

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p Gaming and General Desktop Use.

Other details: I have two lists. One intel, one AMD. Price is comparable. The research Ive done online goes back and forth between the two processors for performance (therefore I would like a few opinions on which system is the better value or has the bigger upside apart from raw framerate).

Intel: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/vansitan/saved/Pnh2xr

AMD: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/vansitan/saved/vfcBqs

Because of the case, my motherboard must remain mATX or ITX in order to take advantage of a 360AIO mounted on top. This is more of an aesthetic choice than anything, and I'd much prefer to have more cooling than is necessary to prevent possibility of fan speeds needing to ramp up due to limits of the cooling. I know this is overkill cooling for the processors, and Im okay with that. Are there any oversights Im making with either list and please give recommendations on possible changes. Unless the performance increase is substantial for minimal price gain, Id much prefer to keep my aesthetics as cohesive as possible.

For what it's worth, the i5-11600 doesn't support overclocking, while the R5 5600x does. The i5 comes with an iGPU, which gives you some redundancy, should your GPU fail in the future. For a slight increase in price… what about going with a 12th gen i5 instead? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sz3Cwc at least on PCPP, it's still slightly below the AMD system.

When I was first making my list, I was doing 12th gen and the cost was always higher. I think my oversight was in the fact that I was only looking at Z690 boards and not a B660. That does seem like the more logical route to take, what kind of performance gains are gained from Alder Lake over Rocket Lake?

With an aesthetic adjustment an i5-12600K is possible.

Unfortunately it's difficult to find direct comparisons between the 11600 and 12600, since most reviews focus on the K variants. Unlike the 11600 and 11600K, the 12600K actually has more cores than the 12600 (6P+4E vs 6P), so the difference is more than just slightly higher clocks.

In any case, the 12600 seems to be similar in performance to the 11600K. The real benefit should be 10nm architecture vs 14nm, which comes with lower power usage and temps, for similar/slightly higher performance.

I would recommend a R7 5700X and Corsair 280X RGB build instead. The case already has 2 fans included. With the 240mm AIO, I would recommend moving the fan at the front to the top of the case (mounted as exhaust), and mount the AIO at the front of the case (mounted as intake).

With the case having plenty of fans, this allows you to upgrade the cpu, and double the RAM and storage.

You should go with something like this. You will have to save up for an extra month or two, but it will greatly benefit you.

The 12600kf is a much better processor than the 5600x and the 11600

Just pick a better case. No need to limit yourself to slower hardware because of looks when there are plenty of decent cases to choose from.

I may have messed that up. I chose the same Red Devil RX 6750XT for both lists.
