MAXNOMIC chairs - terrible value

Otomaru

Since I bought my MAXNOMIC chair based on Linus recommendation, I thought I'd share my story here.

Previously I had a chair that I've used for about 10 years that has slowly broken down, but was and still is usable. But when I decided to change it, it was cause cushioning wore out and my legs started to fall asleep while sitting on it. I had to shift and change positions regularly.

So I bought my TITANUS BLUE office chair [MXNTI01BLUXL] back in January 2017 for 514 EUR delivered. Went for the big sized chair cause of my wide shoulders.

First impressions coming from my leg numbing chair were great. But about 4 months later I started to notice things. At first I noticed that one of my legs was not supported like the other and swung wider open. When ever I relaxed my neck, my head rolled to one side. So I took a closer look. Turns out that the bottom cushioning was asymmetric, it looked like it had poorly hand carved side supports. Which is why one of my legs swung out wider. Then I found out that gas spring is wobbly, and tilts to one side when sitting, causing my head to roll on one side when I relaxed my neck.

Since the chair was under warranty I contacted customer support and had a swift and free exchange for those parts. 10/10 customer support.

So the new parts arrive and all seams good for another couple of months. The gas spring tilt returns, although not as bad as before. The cushioning is still slightly asymmetrical, but not noticeable on normal use. 4/10 quality control.

About 3 years pass and the top of arm rests starts to separate. The finish on PU leather starts to come off. Disappointed, but the functionality is unchanged.

Then, this week I heard/felt a snap while leaning back. At first it seamed like it came from the spring of leaning mechanism, functionality unchanged? Well today I discovered that actually the right side of frame for bottom cushioning snapped. And my back support starts to twist, cause one side bends down. So functionally it is useless now.

I'd also like to add, that for me the chair was not 480 (price without shipping) EUR comfortable. Bad lower back support, the included pillow is too small for the chair. It most definitely was not 480 EUR durable.

I rate my 5 year and 4 moth experience 200/480 EUR.

For context, I have always been within "spec" for this chair. Athletic 190 cm, 93 - 100(*cough isolation cough*) Kg.

Update: Disassembled the chair and brought the broken frame/chassis to welder. Chair is fixed, welder said that one of the welds was more of a melted hole than a weld, which could have had compromised the strength of that part.

Well, don't base your purchases off of something you see on Youtube. They're only after the ad revenue.

Well no... That's debatable at best. And I had to go on something, since remote purchase was the only option for me.

People, please don't post "hindsight is 20/20" comments. I'm just sharing my experience, I'm not looking for advice. Most of us can come to their own conclusions.
