Is it possible to just plug a 3.5mm aux headset mic into a 3.5 port and it work?

No i mean take just the removable mic (from a hyperx cloud core) and plug it into a jack WITHOUT it being connected to its headset

It's a standard 3.5mm connector. Lol. Of course. It'd look ridiculous, and you'd have to have your face hovering over you PC for anyone to hear you, but yes.

yes, the mic and audio are separated, so you can use both individually.

^^^ If the mic has its own cable, it should work on any standard 3.5mm mic-in or mic/headphone combo port (latter are usually on phones and laptops).
