Swapping CPUs

I've done several builds from the ground-up, but never swapped CPUs in/out. Just wanted to double check before I start pulling parts out of a perfectly good machine: can I just swap a CPU while leaving the rest of the hardware as-is?

Removing: i7-10700KF

Replacing with: i7-11700K

MB: Asus B560

10700kf will move to a new build and 11700K will be in my personal machine.

Should I expect any difficulty or extra steps, or should it just boot right back up?

Thanks in advance.

You'll have no issue swapping those, maybe just be sure your BIOS is up to date before

Upgrade to 12th gen, 11th gen is a terrible buy nowadays

I don't think TrophyPete wants to do a whole motherboard swap. 12th gen chips use LGA1700 and 10th and 11th gen chips use LGA1200.

Correct. I have another LGA 1200 MB just sitting around and got a good price on the 11th gen chip - so upgrading to get the PCIE 4 compatibility and getting a usable 2nd machine out if the process.

Thanks for all the help!
