AMD RX 6700XT Issue

So i got my rx 6700xt today, i replaced my 1660 super with it, when i booted into windows 10, everything looked fine, so i went to get the drivers installed. after about 45 seconds after the boot, i suddenly cant open any programs in windows, or eve cntrl+alt+del for taskmanager. i tried several things, running off the cpu (i5 10600k) and installing amd drivers that way but they wont install if the card isnt in the system. but if the card is in the system, windows freezed about 45 seconds after startup. any ideas? i even uninstalled all nvidia drivers, updated all other core component drivers as well as made sure windows was up to date. nothing worked!

Did you uninstall the Nvidia drivers using DDU?

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

Yes, this. Always, and I mean always, run DDU especially when swapping GPU, even if it's an upgrade from AMD to AMD or nVidia to nVidia cards, more so when swapping from one nVidia to AMD, or vice versa.

 

Before running DDU, be sure to have the latest driver from AMD:

Disable WiFi/Disconnect LAN cable

Run DDU, if not on by default, go to Settings and enable 'Safe Mode' dialog, close DDU and restart it again

It should now prompt you to go to 'Safe Mode', follow prompts

When in Safe Mode, run it to clear it of all drivers (IF you had not uninstalled the nVidia driver, do it now), if you also have AMD driver installed, uninstall it as well (reason being, you'd want to install the AMD driver for the RX 6700 XT with a clean slate)

Upon restart, install AMD driver (and let's see where you land)

You can now enable WiFi/connect LAN cable
