I had a alienware 2700 series case with asus sabirtooth motherboard, running a i5 6900, on a msi 980 ti. 9t ran great for years but I stopped using it for a few years after college.

I recently started playing fortnite on it again and had no issues for a year, but now it keeps auto powering down when ever the game asks for fast graphics like splashing other teamates with a shield.

So I finally put money down and switched to a msi z490 pro with a i7 10700k, and 32gb of ram, still using the 980ti, and also added a nzxt kraken cooler, and I'm still getting the force power down.

I tried changing the thermal settings and still get this issue.

The only other thing I can think of is the pcu, its 900w so it should be enough power but I'm out of ideas.

Please help 馃檹

You have the same GPU in both builds and the system shuts down during graphically intensive gameplay. What does that tell you?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.聽 If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

What is your psu and how old is it?聽

Im going to guess its a dell its the same pcu that came with the alienware when it was released in 2005 or 2006, I bought it from my brother back in 2008 cause I loved the look, and rebuilt it when twice to face. I'm planning on getting a new cpu when the prices drop just want to make sure its nothing else first.

Whatever the quality of the PSU when it was new, it's definitely been out of any warranty now for years and thus should not be used.聽
