Dominator Platinum Light bars

Corsair has finally announced them, by the looks of it its just a new metal top and a clear plastic bar lens, I wonder how easy it would be to do a diy lens?

not quite sure how it works, whether the ram has the LED in it or not, I think its literally a new top and a bit of acrylic for $30

Wonder if they plan to release in red for RoG boards despite that being Asus. However blue suits me just fine :P

I think it covers over the top of the Corsair Dominator ram and is fitted with white LEDs, which you can change colours depending on the colour of acrylic you fit it with.

I won't pay 30 dollars for it though XD

Afaik the LEDs are on the memory, this just sits on top of them and allows the light to pass through and obviously because they are clear acrylic some escapes out of the top. I was wondering about different colours and I got thinking, a nice bit of clear fluorescent red (or green or yellow or any colour its made in) acrylic, a dremel and there you go a diy light bar!!

Corsair Dominator Platinum has a white LED light bar pre installed and then you buy this and replace it with the white one.

I know they do, I have them at the moment, removal of the preinstalled light bar shows LED's installed on either end of the ram which the acrylic "light bar" rests on, allowing light to go through it, that way by swapping this with any acyrlic that allows light to pass through it will allow any colour to be used rather than just blue or white, this is important as although white looks cool some red acrylic would look awesome on an ROG board and yellow would be cool with an Mpower Z77 board.

hmm, i was worried at first by the description but i think i like it. not a huge change which could have been bad to an already great looking product. at least its just an upgrade kit.

I like it, have the memory and have been waiting for them to release this so I can have some red that will match my colorscheme..! :)

dont see why this is any more ridiculous than any other LEDs in a system, CPU waterblocks with LEDs fx.
