CPU Clock speeds

My cpu runs at boost speeds 3.60ghz while on desktop/idle and runs at 2.4ghz in games which is its base clock speed. While idle at 3.6ghz it draws 3-5watts of power, meanwhile in games it draws 10-15watts. Laptop in question and the cpu is Ryzen 7 3750H. Why does it do that and is there a way to fix that?

The Ryzen boost algorithm. It idles at a high frequency to make it so when you do something the CPU still feels snappy, and when it is under a full load (say in a game) it'll drop down to stay in its thermal and power budgets.

It's not broken, it's intended behavior. If you want it boosting higher in games, your main options are to increase the thermal and power budgets, so run off wall power, use software to disable the power limits for the CPU (though depending on the laptop that might not be the best idea), and make sure that it stays nice and cool, pointing a fan at it and/or replacing the thermal paste with something higher quality than what's included from the factory. That said, depending on the actual laptop, this might not make a single difference.

Okay so it didnt work like this before but it was at a constant 100 degrees right, so i downloaded ryzencontroller to limit the temps to 90 degrees and the clock speeds are like they are
