Nerdy technical question about OC'ing your CPU.

OC'ing the CPU obviously increases performance, but does it effect the RNG (Random Number Generator) of a game? Like changing the luck % in very, very tiny amounts?

I believe the percentage is the same for RNG, it just does more calculations ergo being faster.

The RNG of a game will most likely not be affected by an over clock. The CPU's part when it comes to RNG's in game is to calculate whatever the game data sent it. It should not vary based on cpu power.

Of course you need to look into where the RNG is getting it's data from. Perhaps it is reading the cpu core speed and using that as a base number if that's the case then yes overclocking would affect it, although I have never heard of a game that does that. I know some games such as Minecraft use the date and time as a base number in an equation to generate a random seed.

If you can identify how the game creates the base number(s) for the random generator then you can begin to find ways to affect it.
