Which is Better?

Go to solution Solved by IAmNik,

paired with the 1030, then option A most def. OR option B if you plan to upgrade GPU in future. never hurts to the get the latest gen of stuff, that way plenty room for future upgrades and usually, less headaches lol

your gpu pcie lanes run on pcie gen 4 as well. not just an m.2. which, with the 1030, yud have to go in BIOS with option B and switch the lanes to gen 3 or you could experience freezes and random black screens

also, option B has pcie gen 4. first mobo does not.

im not going to use gen 4 nvme anyways so doesnt matter imo, also this is a "budget" build im going to pair it with gt 1030 since its enough for val and buy gpu with nvenc when prices go down so recording while playing wont take much fps when playing cs/val

thanks! i think ill go with B then because it is cheaper like 4 bucks and supports gen 4 🙂 and do i have to go to bios to switch pcie gen 4 to 3 if i buy gtx 1650? or will it just work without changing anything in bios?

usualy, the BIOS ocie lanes are set to "auto". HOWEVER, In my new build, I forgot one little thing that caused me random freezes and black screens. my 3060 ti is pcie gen4, as well as motherboard BUT, my vertical gpu mount came with a pcie gen 3 riser cable and after some research, the company says to go in BIOS and change lanes to gen 3 for pcie 4 gpus to work properly. did that and have been freeze and black screen free ever since. also, it GREATLY improved my performance in game.

i have a pcie gen 4 riser cable on the way but, the 1650 is also gen 3 i believe so yes, will still need to change BIOS setting just to be safe

and thats IF you experience any problems like i mentioned

can i go to the bios without changing the pcie gen from 4 to 3? because 12400f doesnt have igpu so i need to borrow gpu from a friend if it doesnt post because 1650 only support gen 3

No, it should post just fine with the card to get into bios. I didnt have any problems til i installed windows and started actually using the PC but it was a easy enough fix and just a brain fart on my part but im glad it was a riser cable and didnt have to RMA my brand new card which i already had in the works hahaha but yeah, you shold be good just keep this in mind when setting everything up and if you wanna try the pc without changing the bios setting then give her a try!  worst case scenario, you run into my problem i had and just restart pc, go into bios and changes "PCIE MAX LINK SPEED" to gen 3. like i said, it should be set to AUTO out the box. most are
