Buying my wife this prebuilt for photo editing and general computer use. In my current setup I'm still running a 1070 and want to snag the 3060 from the prebuilt. I'm under the impression that my full-size 1070 won't fit in the ITX case that it comes with, which leads me to my question(s).

  1. Will my 1070 fit in her case? If it does fit, does it jank the thermals too bad to consider doing anyways?
  2. If my 1070 doesn't fit, I assume it has the resale value to cover a GPU for her build: what should I buy?
  3. Is it cheaper/easier to just buy a new atx case and throw all the prebuilt's crap in that with my 1070?
  4. I don't play AAA (mostly WoW, League, AOE, etc.) titles, but do game in 1440p/144hz. Is the 3060 a big enough upgrade to justify the effort of doing #2 or #3?

Thanks!

Well, an ITX motherboard is 6.7 inches by 6.7 inches

A SFX psu is 2.5 inches tall

it appears that your total available length in that case is about 9.2- 9.5 inches

That card is 11.73 inches long
1: My gut says that card will not likely fit in that case just going by length measurement alone.

2: there are many available cards that tend to carry ITX classifications, this tends to mean that they're single or double fan versions that are shorter in length and  often of semi standard PCIE height a 3060 may be a decent card that would offer mildly improved performance.

3: It is likely cheaper to buy a new ITX case. I would recommend the Coolermaster NR200P or the Raijinteck Ophion or Ophion Evo
4: the case swap will likely be vastly cheaper, but if you really want the smaller case that comes with it the 3060 swap may be more to your liking.

A lot of this has to do with your own personal preferences on these questions.

Good Luck!

Correction: that appears to be a full sized ATX psu, which has a 3.4 inch height which would mean total available GPU length would be an additional .9 inches brining it to at least 10.2 inches in available GPU room, still shy of what your 1070 requires... but that's my best guesstimation based upon what i'm seeing.
