Upgrade needed!

Hi everyone:

i have an old computer with an AMD FX6100 CPU and an ASUS M5A78L-LE Motherboard,i have about 550 US Dollars to spend,what kind of CPUs or mobo can you recommend me to upgrade?

Which power supply do you have? Which graphics card?

As the FX6100 is a AM3+ socket CPU, a direct upgrade path is only possible within the FX product line.

 

I believe this FX line was codenamed "Bulldozer"? If so, I heard that those aren't that good.

 

For about 550 USD, you should be able to fit a Ryzen 5600x and a AM4 motherboard into the budget. This will be an significant upgrade. However, you will also need new DDR4 RAM.

I've got 2 Crucial Ballistix DDR4 2666MHz 8G Sticks,do you think they are good to fit on my upgrade?Or i need to aquire other sticks which has faster speed?Like DDR4 3600?

If you already have the RAM, that's fine.

Sure,i've got a GTX1070Ti from Zotac,a WD SN550 500GB SSD,and a CORSAIR CX550 PSU

if youre gaming i recommend getting 12400f if youre video editing or something maybe get ryzen 7 or something like that

If that's what you have, then that's good to use.

 

Ryzen prefers 3600 MHz RAM, but those sticks will work too.

 

A 550W PSU will be enough to power a 5600X and a 1070Ti. 

I have a 650W PSU for a 5900X and 1070.
