If I used a WiFi range extender with an Cat 6 Ethernet cable connected to it would it be faster than a WiFi card in a PC or would their be barely any difference?

If what you're asking is if you should connect your pc to a wifi extender via cable then no. If you cant get a cable directly to the router, then get a powerline kit instead. Make sure the port is gigabit and not ethernet.

If I can't get a cable from the router then would it be better since it would be connected to a 2.5G Gigabit LAN port.

Also what is a powerline kit because I've never heard of it before?

A powerline adapter essentially turns your house's internal wiring into a ethernet cable (This is a very very very rough explanation)

The 2.5Gbps link speed will be a waste since the ethernet ports on that extender are only 10/100Mbps.

Plugging into a wireless extender is not the same as physically plugging in to a switch/router or using WiFi to the AP. The extender has some latency due to how it's designed.

Wireless extenders are only good for extending coverage. They will inevitably have slightly slower performance. If you're willing to live with that, place the extender at a decent location where it can obtain a good-enough signal from the primary wireless router.
