Is this Monitor irreparably dead?

The Monitor in question is a ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-mhd.

Just yesterday it started to show these weird light-blueish stripes dancing all over the screen and now it even turns on and off in rapid succession, as shown in the video attached.

These errors get worse and worse the higher i set the refresh rate. In the Video it is running at max 144hz. At 75hz the Stripes are still clearly visable, however at 60hz it is somewhat bearable, but artifacts and weird flickers still occur.

I ran the monitor with 2 different displayport cables as well as HDMI and on 2 separate computers. One computer only had HDMI though and the monitor only runs at 60hz max on it anyway, yet the artifacts were still visable so i guess it doesnt change anything.

My Question: Is there any hope at repairing this as an electrical engineer? 🙃 Or would that be a waste of time?

Any opinions on the LG 27GP850-B as a possible replacement?

Thank you very much in advance!

If it's less than three years old, that should fall under warranty.

Its 2 Years and 3 Months old now. Unfortunately, in EU countrys they only give 2 years warranty, so unless they still have a repairservice for non-warranty issues this wont work for me 😕

Check the box and their service. Could be this one got a 1 year extra warranty as often happens.

I am afraid i am out of luck here: Monitors of VA-/VX-/XG- series only have 2 years, extended warranty only hits the more "premium" models VX76-/ VG-/ TD- series 😞

Hi, having the exact same issue here. Any updates on this topic? Also electrical engineer, so I am interested if you tried to repair this too. :D

Unfortunately i havent had the time yet to revisit the issue yet either, since the monitor is in the other end of the country and i m currently very busy with work.

My guess is that either the connection from the logic board to the pannel has come loose or the logic board has gone bad to some degree. I was planing to purchase the same monitor used with a broken panel on a cheap in order to "mearge" the working components of both monitors. But yeah... Sorry. I might come back to it in august when i finally have some time off xD<
Looking at your issue tho, it sounds like you are not able to set it to 120Hz at all, so it might be a different problem, since my monitor here still gives me the option but experiences a severe stroke when doing so. Maybe try a different Source to make sure its actually the Monitor.

ViewSonic monitor is not last longer, I also got one facing similar issue but I am lucky that time as it still left one month warranty, I quickly send for services, later I immediate sell the monitor after getting back from service center.

I just no luck with ViewSonic monitor, another unit ants go in and after some argue and complain I manage get full refund.

Now I no longer check ViewSonic brand and totally avoid it.

I got a similar problem with the same Monitor. Also just 1.5 months after the warrenty ended. I guess dont buy monitors from Viewsonic. It seems like their quality is garbage.

My monitor just did the same thing, stopped turning on completely after I unplugged it, perfectly fine until that.

I contacted Newegg, they said to contact Viewsonic, so I'll update on that when I get a response, I hope they repair/replace/refund it cause I can't afford a new monitor right now 😂 Apr 26th 2021, they say 3 year warranty so 🤞

EDIT: Viewsonic game me an RMA 👍 Hopefully my new/repaired one doesn't do the same

EDIT2: It cost $80 to ship the monitor in the original box, without the stand... Fedex, USPS, and UPS all charged around the same...

EDIT3: I got my monitor back, they repaired it and it works.

Bringing this thread back from the dead to say I have had three of this model die on me like this. We identified that it relates to ambient temperature, prolonged use in environments at or above 30°C (but below the 40°C max operating temperature stated by viewsonic) will cause the logic board start failing, and in the most recent two cases, will brick the monitor after power loss.

These monitors are no match for summer in Australia.

This just happened to me. I started to get noise in my picture. I decided to turn off my PC (I thought it was my Graphics card failing) but the last frame before the PC turned off was still on the screen. I then unplugged the display port cable and got a whole bunch of pink lines. Then i turned the power off to the monitor and it never turned back on again. I did notice the monitor was always a little toasty to the touch. I also think it is heat related, but i don't think its necessarily the ambient temp, just over heating in general. Mine took about 2 years to fail with about a 70°F (21.11°C) ambient temp. Warranty in the US is 3 years and View sonic already said they will repair or replace it. I expect it to die again in the same amount of time but who knows. I suspect they are running a cheap controller too hard to get the price as low as it was when it was new. Such a shame, this is a perfect monitor without this issue.

Same issue on VX2758-2KP-MHD.  It caused me so many issues.  I have two of these monitors on different desks.  I had one start acting up so I started with my GPU.  After that didn't work, I brought my PC to the other monitor and plugged it in.  Same issue was happening with the other monitor.  I never even considered that both monitors were faulty.  The only reason I wasn't aware, was that one GPU wasn't as powerful, so we were running it at 60hz.  When we turned up the windows refresh, BOOM.  Same problem.

I ended up trying new ram, different cpu, a new psu, and a different boot drive.  Nothing worked.  Then I bought a new CPU/Mobo.  That didn't work.  After all that, I brough the other computer down, and tried it and the had the same glitches/artifacts.  Should have tipped me off that it happened during bios/boot, and in Windows.

I had the same issue with this monitor. Has anyone tried opening it and attempted to fix it? Is it worth checking if there is a loose cable or something?

I checked picclick as mentioned in the last week video about fixing a dead monitor and found replacement parts for the motherboard (and power supply) but the guy selling the motherboard doesn't send to Europe and I can't find a working VX2758-2KP-MHD motherboard.

Hello everyone,

I bought 2 new VX2758-2KP-MHD monitors on February 06, 2021.

Yesterday, on July 24, 2023 (5 months after my 2 year warranty expired, and pretty much exactly 3 years after being manufactured) one of the monitors suddenly made a very quiet noise and showed artifacts (similar to the ones shown above). The on screen display and all function buttons also stopped working.

After disconnecting the monitor from power and reconnecting it, it would not turn on again. The blue status LED is also not lit.

The graphics card, the DisplayPort cable, the power cable could be ruled out after a short test.

I opened the monitor and found 2 boards:
- The graphics board JRY-F9UHD-SV1
- The power supply board CQC150011234

I measured all common connections on both boards with a multimeter. The fuse on the power supply board was fine, all resistors and capacitors seemed to have no abnormalities.

However, the graphics board showed discoloration underneath the graphics chip, so my guess is that the graphics chip got too hot and the monitor died as a result.

My biggest problem is getting a suitable replacement graphics board. ViewSonic only sells replacement parts in the US and Canada at pretty high prices.

The graphics board with shipping to a warehouse in Florida and then shipping to Germany would cost me about 190€ ($210).

For comparison: A new VX2758-2KP-MHD would cost me about 320€ ($350).

Here is a photo of the artifacts on the monitor.

The mouse pointer could still be moved over the monitor until it was switched off by pulling the power plug.

Ordered the graphics board from ViewSonic last week, the package will most likely arrive during the next week.

replacement JRY-F9UHD-SV1 from Viewsonic $150,00
Shipping to Florida $33,21
Shipping (incl. Tax, Duties and Isurance) to Germany	$34,22
						total	$217,43 (=201,11€)

Would have liked to order something cheaper but at the time of my search there were no other suppliers.

Currently you can get a replacement board for under 40$ on Ebay if you live in the US or Canada.

How about this guys? Bottom part of the monitor.

Monitor: MSI-G271 144hz, 27", display, 1080p, IPS panel

I'm having this issue when its cold on my room and the only fix is to blower it with hot air to fix the problem. I don't know now if this is garbage display, dead pixel, or faulty board?
