So to give some context, my after upgrading my cpu for my editing rig (5600x to 5950x) and going from all air cooling to a kraken z73,

I have recently been getting black screens + failed windows repairs on boot. I'm thinking my windows boot files were shot so i moved my important data to another SSD and i purged the old copy of data (including old windows partitions and original data) and did a completely fresh windows install. The install went smoothly and the computer started to post without issue but as soon as i booted up Elden Ring for about 5 minutes that black screen came back with a vengeance. Mouse and keyboard were unresponsive, CPU temp went to zero, and pc would not power off unless I hit psu's switch. That last sentence i typed was the usual reaction to the blue screen error and old black screens prior to installing windows all over again. And now I'm scared it might be a software + hardware issue.

My system specs will be listed down below to help anyone identify the issue and I'm open to any questions/ suggestions that'll help me solve the problem.

Did it ever boot properly with the 5950X? If not, did you update the BIOS prior to the upgrade? I should think a 5600 would already have had the latest BIOS to work, but it's possible it wasn't needed, I guess. Lots of people going to Zen3s without updating BIOS and getting stuck dead in the water like this. May have to put the 5600 back in, update the BIOS, then try again. Mine seems to be the only one recently that fired off without a hiccup.

I'll try that later. My mobo's description said it was compatible with the processor but you can never too sure i guess

Compatible and ready out-of-the-box are two different things, as some of the more unfortunate here have found. Seems like mine was one of the few that was ready out-of-the-box. Some have dedicated USB ports for BIOS flash, check to see if yours does.

M flash isn't detecting the contents of the zip file i extracted with the latest bios update on my flash drive. Any suggestions?

Does your board support BIOS flashing? It may not, but if it does, you may still need to install a processor supported by the current BIOS version to even do that. I've never had to do this, you understand, I'm just going from what I've been told by the Asus support when I called to register my board before I fired it up. I got lucky and didn't have to deal with all that.
