Question about using an external SSD.

Hi! So I'm thinking about getting a new laptop but I want an external SSD that I can use with that laptop. I'm not that good with tech so idk what external SSD's work the best. Should I just buy an external SSD or do I buy an Nvme M.2 SSD? I want to use the external SSD as a way to store my games and play on either device seamlessly. Sorry if this is a dumb question/topic.

Well, for starters you don't need the 980 Pro. Get a cheaper drive. Games don't make use of that kind of speed and it's a waste of money.
