docking station problem (type c)

i have an inspiron 14 5000 and im trying to connect it to a docking station with a type c cable. (the port on the pc supports DP)
when i connect, the mouse and keyboard are working for a few seconds - but the display doesnt.
after a few seconds the windows errors "display connection might be limited" and disconnect the cable.
im using windows 11
how can if fix it?
