If it is lightweight then take a look at Antix or MX-Linux (a joint project between Antix and Mepis). With MX Linux you can configure your desktop in Live Mode and save these settings for the install so when you boot first time you have the desktop that you wanted. The downside to xfce that MX and Zorin Lite uses is editing the panel which labels launchers as launchers and not their names so you look at where an icon appears in the panel and work out which one you want to move to the left or right but in the editing element you have to move the launchers 'up' or 'down'!

My personal preference for lightweight would be Devuan 4.0 with its Default DE (LXQt)

I should point out that you can see some KDE applications in the Menu because my main DE is Plasma (KDE)

I'm considering switching from Ubuntu into one of these two but I'm not sure which one. I'd like a bit more speed and windows app support (i know wine exists), since my old laptop kinda can't handle windows 10 smoothly.

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Elementary OS is just Ubuntu with a different skin. It'll function largely similar to Ubuntu. I've never felt any performance benefit in Elementary over Ubuntu or vice versa.

Solus is an independent distro. Might function better, similar or worse. I have no experience with it.
