Finding my DRAM Die type

Im trying to find out the dram die of my vengance RGB pro (CMW16GX4M2C3200C16).

Tiaphoon burner says unknown, but it is samgsung.

When overclocking, anything above 1.35v is completly unstable iirc.

 

IS there anything else i could do, bar opening a stick (hard no)?

I could use some help with this!

You've got Corsair DIMMs, so they've got a version number on them. Pull the sticks from the system and try to find that version number, it'll be something like "v4.32". The 1st number is the brand, 3 is Micron, 4 is Samsung, 5 is Hynix, and I forget what the other ones are. The 2nd number is the IC density, so 2 is 4Gb IC, 3 is 8Gb IC, and 4 is 16Gb IC. The final number is the first number is the die name, starting with A being 0. So Samsung B Die would be v4.31, Samsung E die would be v4.24, Samsung C die would be v4.32, Micron Rev. E would be v3.34, Micron Rev. B 16Gb (the good one) would be v3.42, Hynix DJR would be v5.33, etc. 

 

If you've got one of the sticks without the version number (highly unlikely, I've only heard of their dirt cheap ones having no version number) then your only other option would be opening the memory sticks, and even that's not guaranteed to work (pretty sure corsair rebrands their memory ICs). 

 

EDIT: Just as a guess, I'm gonna say that they're Samsung C Die. Samsung C Die scales negatively with voltage past about 1.35v-1.4v, and usually won't even boot above 1.55v.

I was lucky and the 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 Corsair Vengeance RGB modules in youngest kid's gaming computer were identified by Thaiphoon Burner as B-die.

 

Any tool that can query the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data might show the module manufacturer but likely that is what Thaiphoon Burner uses.

 

PassMark has such a tool or you can boot a Linux Live Distro and run:

sudo dmidecode --type 17

Open Typhoon B. and click the "report" tab.

Reference Raw card = PCB revision

Jedec Raw Card Designer = Die make and model.

Mine also shows henix, so that’s wrong.

I think so, but mine is 4.31, but some Reddit table shows Corsair might be using 4.31 for b die and certain c die tables, which is kinda shitty.
