Is it worth it?

Hey guys I am planning a build for my  younger brother and I randomly gone to Ali-express for buying some cheap components as I only have a budget of 1600usd but that doesn't matter I am here to ask if its worth buying an engineering sample or es CPU?

Generally, no. They're not intended for sale, and often aren't supported on actual release motherboards. Even if you can get it to run, there's often features that don't work as they should because they changed between the ES and the release unit, and the motherboard and chipset are targeted for the release units obviously.

 

FWIW, $1600 is a decent budget for a PC, and not at all worth shopping for bargain basement components. If you're trying to like squeeze a 3080 or something out of that budget and cheap out on everything else, that's a recipe for disaster. You're just going to end up hamstringing the GPU to the point where it's not worth getting something of that caliber anyways.

Oh no, avoid aliexpress at all costs, it's a real shitshow. But if you must and want, engineering samples are a mixed bag, I would personally avoid them.

 

1600USD is more than enough for a decent to high performance build with non china parts tho.

Okay I got it that its just not good at all to get your hands on a engineering sample CPU. And now I am gonna post a post a topic in graphics card to select my graphics card so please help me out there too.
