Just a quick question

Hey guys,

 

I recently built my own computer but forgot to back up some things from my old HDD.  I run the same OS in the same 64bit environment, can I just plug in my old HDD and use it as sorta a flash drive?  The old HDD was my boot disk so I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause problems for me.

It should work? I was trying to do something with this a while ago. It wouldn't work and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out the drive was dead

I am pretty sure you can; 

don't take my word for it, though.

Whenever I have tried this it makes me format the HDD first before it shows up.

you can do it externally or just install it as a secondary drive. just make sure you dont boot off of it
