It's fairly obvious that Linux has done well in server side or embedded applications, but I think it might get a whole lot better on the consumer end.

The latest issue of Linuxformat mentioned that CryEngine and Unreal Engine 4 will support Linux soon, so that makes it even easier for game devs to release titles for it.

The only thing holding me back from going fulltime is waiting a little for steam and games to mature a little on it, and those times I have to use MS Office or other Windows only programs for compatibility reasons. Oh, and Skyrim.

What do you guys think?

I have recently switched my family members old XP machines over to Linux Mint. If my mother is using it then it has become pretty close to becoming mainstream.

Honestly, if all my speciality programs such as c4d etc come to linux, I'd rather be on Linux
