Using laptop dedicated GPU in desktop

Hello dear community,

I'm using Asus zenbook UX534FTC.
It has a HDMI 1.4 port,
Integrated CPU/GPU and also GTX 1650 MAX Q .

 

I'm trying to change my refresh rate of the external monitor i own( LG LG 27GN800-B ) which can support 2K 144Hz
But i can see my display settings use the integrated GPU and not the 1650 MAX Q, so I can't change to anything above 60 Hz in 2K.
I'm also using 2.0 HDMI cable.

Your laptop hardware is proprietary and as such wont function the same way a desktop can. However the output on that laptop is setup by the factory it would appear it just outputs whatever signal the firmware desides based on the gpu switching software. So you can try running a game at that res/refresh rate but otherwise the desktop will just use the igpu

Thank you, that is what i thought.
You dont know a way to force it to use higher refresh when just browsing or coding?.. thats really strange

On some laptops there is an option in bios to always use the good GPU..  maybe worth looking into if you havn't checked already. 

Last time i saw it was a Lenovo with nvidia card..

Sadly, nothing in the bios.
