Put together a system out an assortment of parts. MB is an asrock b450M Steel legend, CPU is a Ryzen 1700, GPU is 760(just for video output), T-force 8 gigs of ram and an evga PSU. As you can see in the picture attached below I have the MB built outside of the case since the system won't turn on. I get MB lights on but no power. It was built inside the case but it wasn't turning on. I read that the PC won't power on if it is touching your case or anything metal. So I decided to pull the MB out and test it. Nope! still won't power on after shorting the pins. I made sure too after checking the asrock manual to make sure I was shorting the correct pins with a screwdriver and I was. I took at 1 stick of ram and tried each. Pulled the GPU and nope. I think it may be the MB but I just had it working 2 weeks ago in my main rig but I upgraded.

So what should I try next? MB dead? I don't think its CPU the PSU or Ram because I am getting power to the MB... The system would at least power on and not post if it was the others... Right?

From a quick search it doesn't appear that b450 supports first gen ryzen.

"Supports AMD AM4 Socket Ryzen™ 2000, 3000, 4000 G-Series, 5000 and 5000 G-Series"

From the manual it says it supports 1700. Maybe the mb is good just the CPu?

Also wouldn't that just mean it wouldn't post? It won't even turn on when hitting the power button

You'd most likely get a debug LED if the MB had them (doesn't appear that way)

Can you show a picture of where in the manual it says it supports first gen ryzen?

Gotta love trolls. Yes carpet IS static. You would also know it takes a lot to take out a system (linus did a video). Also wearing shoes. Sorry I don't have the money to put in wood in my work space.

if the CPU has been swapped, check if any pins are damaged.
