So miners are selling off their cards. I've been watching ebay and I've seen reference and even some non-reference 290's go for $300. There are even some for $350 buy it now with free shipping. Yes, these cards have been enslaved but they should still have years of gaming service left on them. I'm quite thempted to pick one up and if it ends up being defective there's ebay's buyer protection.

The only thing is I'm an Nvidia user right now. I game at 1080p and use a gtx 760 that has plenty of grunt for most games that I play. But for 780ish performance at $300 its so tempting to sell my 760 and pick a 290 that I could slap a g10 on if its too loud.

What would you guys do?

The best option I think is to resist the temptation and stick with my 760 until pascal or later.

If you really want to upgrade now, get the 290 and get the Kraken G10 with a compatible liquid cooler, or if it's not necessary right now, wait for GeForce 800 series cards.
