SSD suggestions

Prodien

Hi.

I'm looking into buying another SSD and I was thinking of getting a 2TB SATA 3 SSD. This will be used for gaming and I want to use half of it to try out Linux Manjaro KDE Plasma edition. Right now my main storage (where Windows 10 is installed) is a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD and I have a Seagate HDD 500GB which I use to store different things (photos, music, etc).

I was looking at Samsung since I know they make good SSDs and I've been wondering what's the difference between EVO, QVO (I'm guessing it's the low end brand because of the low price) and Pro.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you.

Pro is a very high endurance drive, but more expensive.

QVO is meant more as a storage or games drive, not really as an OS drive, since it uses QLC nand. Basically worse endurance and slow write speed.

Evo is a great middle ground and has a fairly good reputation (also running an 840 and 850 myself with no issues for many years now), so I would say get the EVO unless you have extra money to spend or plan on writing a ton to the ssd, in which case the Pro would be better fit
