mmo mouse mapping.

Hello everyone I am looking to purchase an mmo mouse for work. I am looking for one that will allow me to remap the buttons to specific folders. are there any mice that have this functionality built in. my work is very particular due to security which programs they will download onto my computer. I am currently testing intellipoint from microsoft but I don't think it will allow me to do what I am looking to do for example: I wish to map a folder named Job req's to lets say side mouse button 1 so that instead of searching for this folder every time as I use it alot I can just click this button and it opens up. I haven't been able to find any tutorials on this on youtube or the web. any help is appreciated even if what im asking is impossible with generic software. thank you.

Built in?  No.  Mappable to do so?  Most likely.  Can always get a G600 or something for that aim.  I don't know about opening a specific folder; it may require shortcut activation or some such.  My Ducky came with a calc button on the numpad, so it shouldn't be hard to mimic that function for something else.

 

My experience with mice though, is that I can map key functions to them, but mapping program activations isn't necessarily something they will do.

Agreed.

 

With some time and know-how though, I'd imagine one could write a Python script or something similar to open folders with specific key combinations.

How about with a keyboard? or do they function in the same manner?
