What's the lowest spec quest 2 will run a PC link. I know officially Oculus says 4th Gen i5 and a GTX970.  Just wondering if anyone on the forum has tried lower specs? Especially the CPU as upgrading his GPU wouldn't take long.

There is a back story to this question. My nephew has recently been given a Quest 2 for Christmas and wants to use my steam library and add to his own. However his running a i5-3470 so as GPU prices are still high I don't know what to do first.

Obviously a complete new system is the final goal but I don't have the time at the moment. So should I even bother trying to get it working on his current setup or should I just tell him to wait and live with the constant nagging from a 13 year old?

I know it will be terrible experience at that spec but his 13 as will have to live with it or fund his own upgrade.

CPU is likely fine, but if graphics are less than a 970 I wouldn't hope much since I've tried on one of those and it was pretty terrible. Still probably worth at least trying.

I've got a spare GTX970 so I could give it try.  Just don't want to get his hopes up as that will result in even more nagging.

Cheers for the move, never know where to dump these questions.

How well it will run also changes based on which games you are looking to play

That's a good point. My steam library is a bit tame as my youngest is 10 so it would be things like Vacation/Job simulator but I could imagine him wanting to play more advanced games.
