Error code 8, no post

Hello,

 

I recently purchased parts to build a new PC but am running into some problems. To ensure my new parts work I used the tried and true motherboard test bench setup but after socketing my ram and cpu and connecting it with my power supply I cannot get it to post. I have an ROG crosshair vii so I can see the boot codes but all I get is code 8 (not 08 just 8). After doing some browsing I’ve found all sorts of people with the same problem but none of their solutions have worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Build specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5800x

Motherboard: ROG crosshair vii

ram: 2x16 Corsair 3600

psu: Corsair RM1000

I found an answer:

QCODE 8 means insufficient CPU power.

Is your 4-pin CPU power cable plugged in?

Because that may be the solution.

Thanks for the reply. Both the 4 pin and 8 pin for the cpu are plugged in

If it doesn't work then unplug those cables and plug them back in, see if that fixes it.

That was the first thing I tried before posting here but just tried it again to make sure and got the same result

Do you have another power supply? If yes, then try it and see if it works, otherwise one of your parts is dead.

Dead board is what I was leaning towards. The power supply came from an existing build and was working completely fine before

btw can you make my answer a solution, I'm trying to bump up my level, because I know many things about computers and I will help.

I’m leaning towards dead board but not sure of that yet. Other people have said the solution is bios flashback

If you updated the bios, then you can try it, but it's a new board, so it won't work.

ROG boards have a spot in the back to flash new bios

You could try it, but you need another PC, if you have one, then try it, maybe it will post. This error code is pretty weird so I really don't know what's the fix for it, but if you want to, then try it.

Luckily I did have a laptop laying around and used the ROG flashback and BOOM she posted. Guess I should’ve followed that bit of online advice but this is the first motherboard I’ve owned with that feature. Thanks again for the replies
