My friends SSD failed on him so he had to get a new SSD he lost his windows 7 disk so I wanted to know if it's possible to install widnows 7 from a Flashdrive he also doesn't remember which version of windows he had so if Installed windows 7 pro on his SSD and the product key we enter in is from windows 7 premium will it work?

Wait are you saying that the Windows 7 on the flash drive is not the same windows 7 type as the key?

You can install windows from a flashdrive, but the key won't work if it is from a different version if windows. (I don't think)

Yes, you can install Windows 7 from a USB. Just make sure it's configured in BIOS that way, if it isn't already by default.

 

However, no, you will not be able to use a serial key from one version to another. If you installed Windows 7 Pro, you must install Pro for the serial number to work. That, or if by some ridiculous chance it lets you, it might not activate properly, or become "Genuine".

At my school one of the computers had a label on the desktop that said "this version of windows is not genuine" for the longest time. 

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
