Using 7 inch monitor to display PC stats

So I’ve seen examples of people using small monitors inside of their PC case to display their PC stats but I was thinking of using a slightly bigger monitor (7 inch) outside of my case. Kind of like a second monitors but only to display the time and other PC stats such as CPU usage, temps, etc. 

Has anyone down this and have any recommendations of how to do it? Pros, cons, etc.
