NV55c max RAM

I have an ACER Gateway laptop NV55c. I checked in google what is the maximum ram capacity and I normally see just 8 GB RAM but as I checked using CMD with the WMIC memphysical maxcapacity it shows 16GB. So I want to confirm which is which so I can upgrade it to its maximum capacity

What processor is in it? If it's an Arrandale, 8 GB is a hard limit.

Thanks, it has i5 m480 and yes its an arrandale, just confuse why the max memory capacity in CMD shows 16gb

While the motherboard can support 16 GB of RAM, the Intel Core i5-480m can only support 8 GB. Installing any more than that will result in blue-screens during startup. I've never tried 8 GB DIMM's, but I'd avoid those too.
