Hey all,

Just put a corsair h150i 360 on my 5900x. not oc or anything, and im seeing 44-50c idles and on cinebench it hits about 82c but never goes over. Just seems a little hot to me, granted this is my first AMD chip, used to frosty intel chips. Looking for some confirmation that these chips run hot 24/7. I have PBO enabled right now. And im pretty confident that my contact with the chip is good, didn't use different thermal paste since I thought i had extra but misplaced it.

Those temps are a little higher than I'd expect with a 360mm AIO, but not that far out of the ordinary. Most idle at about 40C (AMD's boost algorithm is weird and runs a lot of voltage under light loads) and hits about 75-80C under load without PBO enabled. My guess is you either used an OK thermal paste, or more likely just live in a hotter climate than most. Personally, my 5900X is custom water cooled with PBO enabled, and it still hits 85C. That's not that out of the ordinary for that CPU.

Yep, pretty normal. You might want to try undervolting it with the curve optimizer if you want lower temps. Mine runs about 78C under load with a 280, undervolted.

What case do you have, BTW? That can make a big difference.
